Has anyone else noticed how hostile or judgmental a lot of mumsnet members are?

(Reposting under different topic as advised by another member)

OP posts:

Yes I have, and I'm from the north. (I don't think it's my people) Wink

TanteRose · 05/09/2018 01:36

No, can’t say that I’ve noticed
(pokes OP in the eye and hoiks bosom) WinkGrin

PhaedrasChocolate · 05/09/2018 01:36

It's not like it used to be. And I hate it when people say that Grin

You so rarely see a completely supportive thread any more. There always seem to be a merry band of posters just waiting to put the boot in, no matter what the subject.

I'm all for straight talk, that's why I like MN. However, there's straight talking, and then there's brutal, and I'm really sad to see that happen.

I agree and was thinking of leaving but then found other areas. AIBU is a bunfight and not good for mental health IMO.

Redteapot67 · 05/09/2018 01:43

No I think people have got more snow flakey and self righteous

Spartasprout · 05/09/2018 01:46

Do you think it's the northern attitude that s to blame OP?

fattyboomboomboom · 05/09/2018 01:58

What's a snowflake?

I can't tell what region a poser is from unless they say so.

I find that there is so much virtue signalling going on ie race/gender/sexuality it just gets wearing. The chat threads are nicer and more chance to get to know people.

Monty27 · 05/09/2018 02:05

Ah. They're like it in my local park committee. Just ignore their self importance. If you have the comebacks Grin

birthdayboo · 05/09/2018 02:12

I think AIBU isn't the place for people who could easily be triggered and AIBU is faster moving and posters probably read more AIBU threads and carry the attitude of AIBU elsewhere

But I think also there are times people are more keen to comment and voice opinions than actually contribute helpfully to the OP, and people like to spout off their mumbo jumbo the same way people like the sound of their own voices

But there's also some real kindness and support if you look in the right places on MN

Grasslands · 05/09/2018 03:40

i think it's to be expected on an anonymous forum.

RedneckStumpy · 05/09/2018 03:52

Yes I have noticed that, some here are very hostile. I am sure some here probably organize pass the parcel with a letter bomb.

Don’t get me wrong, I am no snowflake. But some here are outright hostile.

AlmaGeddon · 05/09/2018 04:01

Well it's a huge site now and people don't post imv unless they have strongish views on a subject.
I do often assume there is background to an apparently simple post (or why would you bother posting) and there can appear to be a shitstorm over nothing - often there is background info which comes to light.
