canadian citizenship help.

my father was born in the 60's and his nationality is British Canadian, and he has lived in the UK most of his life, now I have read since he was born in Canada he has Canadian citizenship, and as I was born in 87 I am entitled to Canadian citizenship by decent, I am allowed to hold both UK and Canadian citizenship allowing to hold both passports. this would mean I would be entitled to enter many countries without the need of a visa (as Canadian as seen as "peacekeepers") handy... I am travelling to America next year.
and also if I wanted to move to America or Canada I could with not much bother.. (I don't want to, however in 30 years time who knows)

has anyone who is uk born to a Canadian Citizen applied for their dual nationality and how easy was it?

Check the eligibility questionnaire on the London Canadian High Commission website.

My DD is Canadian by descent, but this, in her case, expires when she is 27 unless she accumulates one year in Canada. Her father was born in the USA, so already Canadian by descent (which does limit how much citizenship he can pass on) although he is Canadian for life.

If you get proof of Canadian citizenship, then you can move to Canada without impediment. You would not be able to move to or work in the USA without an appropriate visa. You could travel to the US a bit easier as a tourist.

When my DH applied for Canadian citizenship, he has to get copies of his parents’ birth certificate, marriage certificate and immigration documents.

like all governments it's a matter of filling out forms, providing documentation and paying money.

It would not be easier to move to America! They're two different countries. They have a relatively easy border, but not open immigration.

thanks for your help MN's was just curious really, i am going to look into it though. it would be so much easier to visit the U.S.A with a Canadian passport than a British one.
Also like i said i have no intention of moving to canada however in years to come who knows what opportunity my come my way if i had my dual nationality at least it would make it easier!
