How the bloody hell do you do links????

On msn you just highlight the address and right click for copy and then paste.

I've tried that on here and it doesn't see to work.

GGGrrrrrrrr

I've had flippin problems with this as well. I do what it says in the box but it hasn't worked yet

sweetheart · 20/08/2004 13:16

what box???

OP posts:
lou33 · 20/08/2004 13:17

you have to type \link then paste the address, then \ followed by the word you want to be the link, then {}

Make sense?

lou33 · 20/08/2004 13:17

The box at the bottom of the screen, where the emoticons are. It tells you how to insert a link.

spacemonkey · 20/08/2004 13:17

if you look to the right of the Add a Message box, there are instructions on how to add a link (maybe we need to improve the instructions though, because this is an age old question!)

  1. Type in "\link"
  2. Type ""
  3. Paste in your link complete with
  4. Type in ""
  5. Type in your link text e.g. "look at this"
  6. Type in "{}"

Hope that helps!

spacemonkey · 20/08/2004 13:19

crap

the system does weird things with curly brackets

item 2 should say type an OPENING CURLY BRACKET

then item 6 should say type a CLOSING CURLY BRACKET

grrr!

lou33 · 20/08/2004 13:19

dunno what happened there with my link explanation, the brackets came out in the worng place!

Try again

\link

paste address

\ then word to be highlighted for link , then{}

lou33 · 20/08/2004 13:20

Argh!

the first curly bracket should go after \link

second curly bracket should go after the pasted addy, and word you want to use as the link

\ word}

KateandtheGirls · 20/08/2004 13:28

In the box, underneath where the emoticons are described, it tells you how to do it. It's impossible for us to give directions, because like the girls have said the system messes up the curly brackets.

But just follow exactly what's written in the explanation in the box. Replace "url" with the website address (you can copy and paste from the website in question) and replace "description" with whatever you want your link to say.

Just give it a try!
