Getting away with murder - literally

I feel so angry I can hardly speak - has anyone else read in the Mail about the man who murdered his wife in front of their four children because she wanted to leave him? He stabbed her over and over again while his daughter pleaded with him to stop, yet got some pathetic sentance for manslaughter and could be free in 3 years. Sometimes I think the law should just be changed making it legal for men to kill their wives, because that's how it is interpreted in this country. I think it's sick. If chasing someone through the house and repeatedly stabbing them isn't murder, what on earth is??? Her last words were to tell her children that she loved them. I really feel this is a huge injustice. Does anyone else feel like me?

Yes, I feel exactly as you do. I remember a similar case where a man murdered his wife because she joined an amature dramatics group - the judge said he'd been provoked because she'd refused to stop going and reduced it to manslaughter.

There's been an outcry recently about the revenge rapes taking place in Pakistan, but I don't know how we in this country have the gall to point the finger at others when things like this are allowed to happen.

Manslaughter can carry a life sentence too, but he'd have got longer if he'd been caught with his hand in the till. And I agree that if it had been the other way round, the sentence would have probably been very different.

There was a case in Autralia a few years ago where a man murdered his wife because she was a vegetarian and had refused to cook her husband meat for 10 years. The judge seemed to think this was justifiable. I think the judge was certifiable. Could the man not cook for himself?
