Has anyone any experience of house swapping? I am in 3 bed house SW London it is all set up for a todler. I have off road parking and victoria is a 6 min train journey away. I fancy the idea of getting out of town for a week October 2004 to the coast/ countryside and ideally would like to swap houses with someone else who has a small child so there would be cot, toys, trike etc on site.

Also I am planning a a three month trip to South India or South Africa Dec 05 - Feb 06. Anyone want to swap houses then?

Funny you should say that LasVegas, dh and I have discussed the possibility of a house swap at some point (prob. next summer though, no-one would want to come up here in the winter!!). We are about as near to the sea as you can get, but not set up for a toddler (mine are 5 and 7). We would love to swap with someone in London - just for the culture shock!

Dear Miaou

Where R U exactly? Do you want to exchange email addresses then we could contact each other in spring 2005 to discuss it further. Next summer DD will b 2.5yrs so probably in normal bed anyway. I live right next to a large common with ponds and playgrounds. Have small garden also. Ideal location to take kids to natural history museum, aquarium etc. I could also put you in touch with my sitter so you could go out for an eve. There are loads of restaurants and bars 5 mins walk and in day time they welcome kids. Hope 2 hear from you.

Hi LasVegas

I may be a bit further away than you'd like - on a remote island off the West coast of Scotland! It is called Isle of Muck and is between Skye and Mull. It is a two hour ferry ride from the mainland and there is no shop on the island, you would need to bring all your food with you. On the plus side, it is a truly beautiful island with magnificent views of surrounding islands, a huge sandy beach which is always quiet, a large garden with slide and sandpit, and a wonderful craft shop selling gorgeous lunches, cakes etc!

If this doesn't put you off (!) contact me through CAT and I'll give you more information. We're keen to let the children "experience" London so a swap would be great for us!

might be if my house is straight by then. We are train stop down from whitstable (comes from victoria line) with 4 bed house, with sea views, it is on 4 levels though but we have stairgates everywhere because my daughter is disabled

How lucky--dp and I were talking the other day about how we'd like to spend a week in London in October, but thought it would be really hard to find a place to stay. I've emailed you via contact another talker. If you're interested, please get back to me.

Lasvegas · 20/08/2004 10:47
