Question to those that have ordered flowers online before

Hi,

My job is helping both home and local florists with their marketing, and I do everything I can do to increase their visitors.

However, I could really benefit from some fresh opinions from those that have ordered flowers online in the past, and ask you...

  • What made you order from your last florist?
  • If ordering from a new florist, what do you expect to see (to trust them etc)?
  • What would put you off?

Thank you!

  1. Good price; able to order on a Saturday for delivery the next day (impressive!); able to complete entire transaction online without having to speak to anyone; able to pay via PayPal.
  2. Plenty of positive reviews from previous customers. In particular I'd want to see people saying how the flowers were in good condition on arrival and that they lasted well.
  3. Huge delivery charges. It's all well and good having good value products but if you want to charge me upwards of about £5 for delivery there's no way I'd proceed with the purchase. Psychologically I'd be happier with higher prices for the flowers, with free delivery (maybe a supplement for next day / weekend delivery).

Last time I ordered flowers online, there was no way to attach a personalised message without paying for an accompanying card. If I'd not chosen this option the recipient wouldn't have even known the flowers were from me. So what initially appeared to be a good price ended up being at least a few pounds more. I was already several pages into the purchase before this became clear so I wasn't inclined to abort the process by that stage. Suffice to say though, I wasn't a happy customer!

Hope this helps!

Ruffles has pretty much covered it.
I order fairly regularly from a company that offers loyalty points. I'm more inclined to order from them knowing there may be a little discount, free postage, etc.
