Which car should I buy?

After much nagging DP has finally agreed that we can trade in our Nissan Primera grandad saloon car for something more family friendly.
I'm torn between a Chrysler PT Cruiser because it's a bit different (but maybe too different) and a VW Touran, which is much pricier so would be difficult to scrape the money together for but would probably be worth the stretch.
Does anyone have one of these cars and what do you think of them?
Any other suggestions for great family cars? There's only 4 of us so we don't need anything too huge.
Thanks

ahem< Can't comment on either of the cars expect that I think PT Cruisers look fab but wanted to say that as a born again BMW driver I am very courteous thank you!

Mrs Spoon, i have to say that although i am anti-BMW's on the whole- you are an exception!

And give me a BMW any day over a Picasso or other dreary family cars!

PrincessPeaHead · 02/06/2007 15:35

the only good thing about a xsara picasso is you can get a new one for much cheaper than a second hand touran or cruiser

there are reasons for that but if money is the no 1 consideration then worth a look

I think the cruiser is coming out on top.
Not keen on the xsara, too rounded. Also, my friend's got one and she might think I'm copying

Nearlythere, it looks like i'll be joining the Cruiser Club!
We went to Car Giant this morning and all the other models looked dreary in comparison. I'll have to just take the risk that it won't keep going wrong like so many other cruisers seem to.
We were briefly tempted by a Land Rover but then I remembered that I don't have a country estate to drive it around.
One last question, what's the boot space like? Could you fit a kiddies bike with stabilisers in it standing up? they didn't have any in stock at Car Giant so I didn't get to check one out.

yes you can def fit in child bike with stbalisers, obisously you hae tt twist handels but they do fit. also leaving room for the rest of the house! The only real thing you could be lmited in space is a giant 3 wheeler buggy, if you use one! but there is still room. good luck.

wohoo!!!
BUY IT BUY IT!!!

i've never regretted mine, and we are buying one for dss when he has been driving for a year!

If you do ever have a problem, my mechanic bought a chip for his diagnostic code reader so i will never have to take mine to the dealer (where they charge gazillions!!!) Cost about 15 quid but worth it if you asre going to keep it for a while!
