a long dead foreign relative.
Long story but, my pa is not English and his mum died when he was very small (about 2). According to my dad's family, there are about 5 different versions of how she died, (nobody can seem to agree on one). Just before my grandad died, he told my dad that she ended up in a Nazi concentration camp but the rest of the family denied this and told my dad that she was buried in a small parish in Poland. Parents spent 2 weeks there but, had no luck finding any record of her death in the actual parish or surrounding area. The rest of his family were not happy and told him that it was none of his business!!
The upshot is I'd quite like to trace what happened to her, my dad's family don't seem to want to tell him but, where the hell do I start? Any ideas.

Try a Jewish genealogy website? Polish records are quite good - think the central synagogue in Warsaw keeps records as well (I used to live in Poland). Ummm...will try and have a think.

Thank you for that ladies, am not sure that she was Jewish, would this make a difference?
I'll have a look at that site. Thank you.

don't know if it would make any difference but the website would put you in touch with people with a similar mission. They might have tips on how to search. Good luck.

Tatt + Mrs s have signed up with jewishgen and LOTS of good advice on that so, here's hoping. Apparently the US redcross keep concentration camp records (or what's left of them). Thank you very much for your help.
