What's the earliest/latest you would call someone on the weekend? During the week?

And I'm speaking of someone with young children....not a single person or one with teenagers...

LucyJones · 28/05/2007 08:33

go on... who just caledd you/

crunchie · 28/05/2007 08:33

Nver before 9, unless an emergency re school or something.

Nver after 9.30 unless I know them sell

Walnutshell · 28/05/2007 08:35

I wouldn't want anyone calling me after about 8pm in the evening (unless pre-arranged) because by this time I want a bit of peace before I go to bed! But I reckon about 9pm is OK for less grumpy souls!

Lucy - no one's called me, I'm just wondering when I can call someone! Can't face another rainy day inside, so am hatching a plan for activity for dd with a friend, but need so see if friend is available...

So, I should wait until 9?

Neah, do it now but be ready to pretend you thought it was later if she sounds sleepy!!

Walnutshell · 28/05/2007 08:36

Or text first...?

crunchie · 28/05/2007 08:37

txt first I would be really pissed off ona bh monday before 9tbh

Earlybird · 28/05/2007 08:40

OK, will text first. Child in question is 6, and is youngest in family of 4 children. I suspect that, like us, they've been up for hours. But maybe those children are better (or better trained!) at playing on their own so parents can lie in.

I have two friends who phone at unsociable hours. One usually calls before 7 in the morning - but lives in another time zone, and calls while she's driving in to work.

Other friend calls when he's driving home from work - so phone inevitably rings around 8 at night when I'm settling down for some peace and quiet after putting dd to bed.

Those pals have clearly learned that chances of having a real conversation are better when dd is asleep. Love 'em, but sometimes I groan when the phone rings...

On a weekday, 8am is ok, as long as its a quick one -ie) confirmation to meet up etc. At night, anything up to about 9.30 is ok, later if its an emergency, as I usually am up. As long as ER isn't on that is!!! My friends/family from Canada often used to call when they were bladdered, which usually translated to the very early hours of the morning with me. I was not amused....

Weekend: after 10am and before 8pm (allows us "our" time after dd aged 2 & ds aged 15 weeks has gone to bed)

Weekday: After 9am (all in bed still..otherwise ) and before 8pm

ALTHOUGH I do have a friend with a lo the same age as dd and she calls at any hour....even as late as 10.30pm when out of work .

nickytwotimes · 28/05/2007 15:12

i don't really like being called later than 8 most nights, as i am so shattered by then! we have caller display, so if i know who it is i can pick up and tell them i'm too knacked! i have very very good friends. in the morning, after 8.30 is fine. anyone who phoned later than 10 pm would not get a reply!
