Hi I have just joined. I used to be on Netmums, but thought I should try it over here. But I find it a little hard to manouvre, I guess I just have to get used to it. Is this a board for general chat and other topics that does not fit elsewhere?
Netmums has a coffee lounge where a lot of members while away their days. Is this board similar?

chat is a good place to get yourself known. theres a tea shop which is a bit like the coffee lounge. theres a new thread started every day and a bar at night which is just idle chit chat. but really just jump in feet first and welcome

milkchocolate · 25/05/2007 12:04

milkchocolate it depends on what you want to ask/say.If you want just general chat click on mumsnet disscussions and then go down list and click chat then start new topic.Once you get used to it it's quite simple honestly.
As you've already started this thread why not ask your q here if you want.No-one will mind I'm sure [smile
Oh and welcome

milkchocolate · 25/05/2007 12:07

Thanks for that. I dont actually have a question as such, just trying to figure out how it works around here. LOL

Hi milkchocolate

Welcome to Mumsnet, kiss goodbye to your free time - it's highly addictive!

Here's the topic list.

Here's the Chat forum.

Acronyms list at the top.

You're all set!

Milkchocolate - the tea room is a great place to just sit and have a virtual tea and chat. Great people in the tea room. Just make sure you dont sit on the pouffee - Gibbon gets possessive!

I would suggest you just use 'active conversations'

there are different sections but you'll get a snapshot of all of them if you click on active conversations .. just pile in when your interest is picqued really

I don't think we have really hard and fast rules .. all subjects are chatty but you'll have more of a steer over what's being chatted about

oh we work backwards here .. you can flip threads but I never bother to .. I just scroll to bottom and read upwards instead
