how long do you have to keep paperwork if you are self employed??

in theory 6 years (and its counted from date return is in rather than end of tax year I thinmk) as that is the usual enquiry window into ordinary returns but they can open up to 20 years later if there is suspicion of fraud (doubt that will apply to you )

if i keep the accounts can i get rid all the receipts and statements after 6ys then
