Call your insurance and get them to replaxce it.

sauce · 22/05/2007 10:47

Yeah, why not? If you liked wearing it. It's only a thing, after all.

iota · 22/05/2007 10:48

I would - I'm on my second

sauce · 22/05/2007 10:50

Husband or ring, iota?

liquidclocks · 22/05/2007 10:52

Absolutely, yes.

If you want the new one to have some sentimental value you could get DH to choose it for you or design your own. My Dad lost his lat year on hols. He and my mum have matching arts & crafts style rings so he got a new on fashioned by a local jewellery maker using my mums as a template.

if i lost mine, i would replace it as soon as i could afford to. in the meantime, i'd probably get a cheaper replacement so i have a ring. (it's very symbolic to me to have mine.)

iota · 22/05/2007 10:57

I'm still on the same husband, sauce but my second ring

wurlywurly · 22/05/2007 10:57

Yeah I would replace it but think i would have to have it blessed first

iota · 22/05/2007 10:59

If I need another ring, I might get one studded with diamonds this time

SSSandy2 · 22/05/2007 11:00

yes, I would probably. Why do you feel uneasy about replacing it?

BibiThree · 22/05/2007 11:02

I would wait a while - I love my ring and engagement ring and lost them both a few months back and didn't want different ones. We suspected dd (2.5) had made off with them as she loved them too, and that they would turn up. They didn't for weeks and weeks so my gran gave me hers, I got it re-sized and everything and the day I picked it up from the jewellers, I found mine.

Am wearing gran's at the moment though as pg fingers are too fat for other ones.

Dh also lost his last week and it turned up wedged in one of the cookery books in the kitchen - dd again methinks.

it depends on how you feel about the symbolism or the actual object or both - i would mourn the loss of my original wedding ring but i would also replace it as i love wearing something to say i love dh and i am married to him (well most days anyway!!!)
