Clothes recycling

Near my local asda there is clothes recycling container along with the ones for paper, glass etc. What happens to these clothes? Do they go to charity to be re-used, or do they go through a recycling process like paper, glass etc?

The reason I'm asking is because I've got loads of clothes to get rid of and am wondering if it's only decent clothes re-wearable that should go in their, or if worn and damaged clothes should go in too, in which case, can old bedding and other fabric materials go in their as well?
