I ran out of the room saying Oooooh Im going to sneeze lol

She is 6 in August

I don't want to lie outright to her, but I think she is too young to know the truth as she will tell others in school

Turn the tables. Ask her what she believes and why.

NoodleStroodle · 18/05/2007 17:44

Well how do all the presents get there then?

(Why is she talking about Christmas in May?)

anniebear · 18/05/2007 17:47

Beofre my dramatic exit for a tissue and a big sneeze lol I did ask has somebody said something in school, but she said "no.....is there?"

I would turn the table on her too. My dd is 11 and although I know she doesn't believe anymore, she would never admit it to me! I tell her that if you don't believe, then you won't get any presents! A little harsh maybe, but if you say it with a bit of a magical air about it, it'll be fine! I bet soemone at school has told her! I would also tell her, that if that person doesn't believe then fine, but their'll be sorry at Christmas when he doesn't visit them!!

tissy · 18/05/2007 17:48

dd is 5 and she has asked in a worried way "is FC real?", and I just say, "well where do you think all the presents in your stocking come from, then?". So far, she hasn't clicked that I put them there.

(Although we did have a sticky moment when we were staying with her cousins last year, and FC had put vastly different things in their stockings-
"Mummy, why has FC given me toothpaste, and not X, Y and Z?".

"Because he wants you to clean your teeth after all those choclate pennies he gave you".

"He didn't give X,Y and Z toothpaste".

Go and eat your chocolate, or Daddy might steal it!")

Rachmumoftwo · 18/05/2007 17:56

I always put toothpaste and a new toothbrush in my two's stockings too! They expect it now, as they know FC knows the Toothfairy (and the Easter Bunny) well, and they all like children to have nice teeth!
Great minds eh?

MaureenMLove · 18/05/2007 17:57

Its an absolute nightmare isn't it? Not everyone does the same FC thing which doesn't help really! Personally, FC brings lots of little things like pens and hairbands and he leaves it at the end of her bed. (Not an easy task when she's 11!) Whereas, one of our friends gets their relatives to give them all their presents for the kids and tell the kids they all came from FC!

MaureenMLove · 18/05/2007 17:59

I bought an electric toothbrush for dd to go in her stocking about 3 years ao and just as I was taking out f the shopping bag she came in, so I quickly hid it in the boiler cupboard. I forgot it was there and the gas man found it in April!

amateurmum · 18/05/2007 18:04

Oh, this is tricky (although unexpected in May!).

My 8 year old asked me this year and I assumed he already knew so was honest - he was DEVASTATED for weeks and we had tears on Christmas Eve. I think he did already know but wanted us to keep up the pretence.

So, I would agree with other people who have posted - turn the tables and ask them or ask how she thinks her presents arrive if FC does not exist.

NoodleStroodle · 18/05/2007 18:05

When the children were getting to the questioning age I pulled a double bluff - sometimes FC got "confused" and put the wrong thing in the wrong stocking...

anniebear · 18/05/2007 18:20

I am 99% sure that if I asked her who brings your presents then? or how do your presents get there then?

she would answer "you get them" straight away !!!!!!

She hasn't mentioned it again!!!!! phweeeee

I can just about cope with can God see everyone at the same time? Can God know what we are thinking?

Lol, but not FC ones!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were always told that yes, Mummy, Daddy etc do buy the presents, but that they get sent to FC to be delivered. I also remember when my nephew (now 24) asked about FC - he was told that FC didn't really bring the presents but that it was a lovely idea whichm ade Xmas special and that on Xmas Eve at least everyone believed in FC. I certainly said that although I knew the presents came from X, Y and Z I wouldn't dare NOT believe in FC just in case. He seemed happy with that.

MaureenMLove · 18/05/2007 18:31

A child with any once of sense, how ever old, would play along with mummy & daddy, for fear of not getting any presents!!!
