Thinking of buying in London a three bedroomed terraced house, small, needs cenral heating and boiler system throughout... Any ball park figures, are we talking £10k, £15 or £20 no fancy fittings or whatever included just something basic to help us work out if we can afford to buy property and put heating in.

Help!

Hi, I think we paid about £2k for our new boiler and CH system. That was for a 2 bedroom terraced, 5 rads. Also we are in Yorkshie, dont know if that makes any difference to the price.

My DH knew the plumber, but he didnt really give us a discount, but did source a boiler which was cheaper than normal for some reason cant remember why!

I think 10k sounds very expensive, sure it cant be that much.

Had 2 quotes in the last 6 months. We live in a 125 yr old stone mid terrace over 3 floors in West Yorkshire.

The first was £2.4K for a combi boiler and 6 radiators over 3 floors.

The second was to be covered by a £2.1 grant and would be 5 over 2 floors.

Personally if we were going for GCH I'd have plumped for the 1st one but we have decided against it. We're not intending to move, it's hellishly disruptive for us (lifting laminate floors, removing kitchen cupboards etc) and the house is warm enough without it.

Hope that helps

Have just asked dh, he works in a plumbing and heating centre, and he reckons about £4k. It would depend on the type of boiler, number of radiators etc and if it's oil/gas/electric. HTH
