If someone is appointed Chairman, are they appointed chairman TO a company or FOR a company?

In other words, which is correct:

Joe Bloggs has been appointed as Chairman to ABC Ltd.

Joe Bloggs has been appointed as Chairman for ABC Ltd.

Thanks

Appointed chairman to. Or of. Not for.

Actually, I think 'of' is the best.

Ellbell · 17/05/2007 12:36

Agree with NQC: 'of'

Chairman of
