My washing machine is knackered...the drum will not spin but it tries to when I turn it on which creates a loud banging noise...I use my washing machine daily and I don't know what to do, I can't afford to buy a new one and I don't have a catalogue and my credit card is almost maxed out, I don't have a laundrette near me either...what are the chances of me being able to get this one fixed??

it may be the belt that drives the drum is broken or damaged. Can you take the back off easily to have a look (turn off elec first)

Yikes Whizz you sound like DH, not as hairy of course. But yes, that is sound advice. It may be something you can see immediately. A new belt would be below a tenner.

LOL - ours threw a wobbly last week.
DH took as much apart as he could & we cleaned all the pipes & put it back together again - worked fine ! The only thing we could see was a penny in the outlet thingy - we think it was blocking the pump
