Just had a quote for a £1000, feel this is rather high.

Have a 3 bed semi, not that large, only 2 storey, includes the paint.

Has anyone had their house painted on the outside and how much were you charged.

Appreciate advice please.

I was quoted £700 and I have a 4 bed detached!!
Sounds rather high to me.

Did that price for £700 include the paint etc.

When we had managing agents for our large house of three flats, they painted the outside of the house and the paintwork, and charged 10k for the privelege.

Needless to say we bought the freehold when our chance came up. It is a semi-detached as well.

Poppy101 - I assume so.... he never mentioned me having to buy the paint.

Sounds high. MIL has just had hers done - large 5 bed/3 story semi for £700 inc paint.

Are these quotes all for the same thing though? Could include window-frames, doors, bargeboards etc - style of house might require more in the way of scaffolding etc (they're not allowed to use ladders any more) - how fiddly are the window frames - is there stonework to paint?

etc etc. It's a bit piece-of-string-ish

~(and also where abouts you are in the country too) - I should imagine London/the south etc probably pay more than in the north....

noddyholder · 07/05/2007 17:29

I think it sounds quite reasonable.

And there's preparation, could take a lot of time if it hasn't been done for ages.

You def need to get a few more quotes, poppy.

Mine is a two-story terrace house. It was £900 - six years ago. Sadly, I think it's about right. We're in outer London.

It might depend where you live but ours cost about £1000 several years ago so that figure probably is about right - took about a week to do iirc
