I currently teach full time but I am thinking of going 4 days per week. Does anyone have any idea of how I can calculate the wage reduction? I want to have a general idea before I request this. Also, to what extent does my boss have of turning this request down? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

can't advise you on calculating your wage BUT just to let you know my sisters experience of asking for reduced hours..She is also a teacher and asked for her hours to go from 5 to 4 days a week and was turned down. She has no kids and it was turned down on this basis.

They felt that it wasn;t a valid request! The school is one that is due to close within the next 2-4 years and she wanted to train in another career/skill on this day off so that when the school closed she was skilled elsewhere..She would stll be devoted to the school BUT it was a no go.
I told her to complain as it was discrimination due to not having kids but......
