My Ds7 and his friend, 8 have been playing out on their baby scooters, doing stunts etc, and my ds has chipped bob the builders head on his friends scooter.
His friend has just been round to ask for £26 cause he's "broken his scooter"
I don't know what to do cause
a I'm really really skint
and b it's obviously a scooter he's had for years and it's old looking,
but on the other hand, my ds did break it!!!

So basically they were larking around and a toy got broken. It happens, your friend is being unreasonable in my opinion to ask you to pay. Unless he deliberately hit it with a hammer then tell her no, sorry.

Your DS's friend came round to ask for the money?
I'd speak to his parents about it, and explain that it was just one of those things.
I wouldn't be discussing this with the other child.

things get broken when kids lark around, and at that age, they should know their baby scooters are going to take a battering

chipping an old scooter is hardly the same as deliberately breaking it with malice,

i would speak to the parents, not the child, who might well be trying it on

Yes, definitely don't talk to the kid about it. Besides which, chipping Bobs head - surely it can be fixed. Can we fix it Bob? Of course we can

dingolimpet · 04/05/2007 19:45

It's only Bob's head that's chipped though, rest of scooter is fine
