You need Triplets, she knows Deal well
There are other Kent coast Mners about...
You are near some nice beaches there, I am sure you know that already - Joss Bay in Broadstairs is a pretty, traditional little beach

I don't know too much about the facilities in Deal, but it has a great Leisure Centre, the pool is one of them beach types with a couple of flumes. There is also a outside paddling pool on the sea front which is open all Summer. Then there is the beach! A local hospital and lots of lovely cafes and some good pubs, most of the pubs have out side seating facilities. The hospital has a section where you can get your babies weighed and a under 25 Family Planning/STI clinic. There are some good local shops which sell fruit and veg and a couple of good butchers. There is also a Waitrose.

Oh, and a night club for the over 25's or as it is commonly known Jurrasic Park!!

Hi,
Muslinattheready where are you? Can`t find the other thread! Thanks Marina and Hi, how are you?

GiantSquirrelSpotter · 08/05/2007 15:15

Ooh, a Waitrose...

turquoise · 08/05/2007 15:19

My best friend lives there - it's lovely. Unspoilt, quite arty and bohemian (not v up on what to do with pre-schoolers though, sorry!). Walmer Castle is fun for slightly older children though - and there's often child based activities at Deal Castle.

triplets · 08/05/2007 15:23

Waitrose? No, we have Iceland, Sainsbury`s and Somerfield, and M&S, and of course the Co-op!

A really good day out is Wingham Wildlife Park nr Canterbury, alot cheaper than Howletts and very buggy friendly, we go 2/3 times a year and mine never get fed up of it, also do excellent hands on, tarantulas, scorpions, snakes etc!

triplets · 08/05/2007 16:02

Just a tip, if you plan going to Howletts or Port Lympe if you order your tickets thru their website it is alot cheaper, They post them to you and they are usually then valid for a year!

bubblicious · 08/05/2007 16:07

And in the summer you have the outdoor paddling pool- which is free.

the walk along the seafront is lovely, Kearsney Abbey is great for a picnic.

\\Also opening up at the end of the month is that nature reserve thing just outside of Deal.

Baby gym,Tides Swimming Pool. Snappies (in Dover-a soft play area)

The list is endless

GiantSquirrelSpotter · 08/05/2007 17:35

2shoes · 08/05/2007 22:04

Wingham Wildlife Park nr Canterbury,
tell me more please

bubblicious · 08/05/2007 22:06

Triplets, yes Im local.

I have lived in Deal for the past 20 yrs.

bubblicious · 08/05/2007 22:07

There is a small market on a Saturday, and sometimes at the Town Hall there is a Farmers market(sorry cant remember what day that is on!)

triplets · 09/05/2007 08:35

Bubblicious, do we know each other I wonder? Wingham Wildlife Park is between Ash and Wingham, abot 20 mins drive from Deal. They have lots od animals now, a butterfly house and roaming birds/ducks galore which the children love to feed. Also good little cafe, lots of picnic benches, and an excellent play area, price is about £23 for a family of 4. Mine have been going for 8 yrs and never get fed up of it. At this time of the year there are lots of new born. It was at one time simply a bird park, but now has monleys, goats, meercats, otters, ostrich, llamas, to name but a few!

triplets · 09/05/2007 08:36

Farmers market is now every Weds at the town hall for the summer!
