My mum passed very recently. Because it's the weekend I've not been able to do very much in terms of arrangements. I'm her next of kin and don't earn a great deal have very little savings (about £500 ) was saving for a family holiday next year. My brother is in receipt of benefits and so was her partner. Her dad (My grandad) has money but so far offered nothing. I couldn't ask.
My mum had around £2000 in her current account that would probably cover the basics and I know my brother and possibly myself would be entitled to help off the government, and with it being cancer related I've heard they're charities that can help. If I can help it I would prefer not to take from the government or the charities but I don't know where I stand legally with her money? She had nothing in place and her money was paid to her from benefits. Would I be allowed to use that money for her funeral? How do I go about it? Would it take long?
