Argh at the plot explaining - DH did query a couple of things, but it was along the lines of "What did he say?" rather than "What's going on?" Which is what the rewind button is for. I thought the bloke playing Shankar was excellent

Was Strike was good? you remember what LetUs said about not watching Lucifer for the acting ability? Well, you don't need to worry about that - FAF and acting were both involved. Though I think it still felt a bit rushed being stuffed into two episodes.

For me the ending to Strike was perfect. If they'd done a Graduate and run off together there would be nothing left for future series. It keeps the tension going. I hope they don't get together until the last book.

Badders - no - Matt has no redeeming features in the books either, or none that I can think of. Clearly he must have some, or Robin would have ditched him yonks ago, but ho hum. She does wonder at one point in the book if they're only together out of habit and shared history - if they would have grown apart naturally if she hadn't been raped.

I wish it had been three episodes, they could have included Elin and we could have had some sex scenes. It would have made the relationship between Strike and Robin more equal, although I know he was going to dump her. He did say he had missed a date, but that was the only reference to her.

Thanks for all your thoughts - MIL is back home. Lots of tests done, all results back so far are clear. Awaiting result of a “head scan” as DH puts it and she’s to go back for more tests. SIL is staying with her although MIL says it’s not necessary as she “doesn’t want to be any trouble”. SIL is not one to be deterred though

Shall watch Strike tonight. Matthew is indeed a cockwombling twatbadger. I think he’s quite controlling in a way and her confidence was obviously blown after the rape so, as Helen said, habit and shared history. Absolutely agree it would have been better over three episodes which would have provided the added bonus of much Team TB flailing at a sex scene. Friend at work was most disgruntled at the wedding actually taking place.
