hatwoman · 02/05/2007 22:05

honestly honestly. it was there in blue and white. it's not repeated on the website, but it was there on the telly.

This sort of thing drive me mad!

Not least because it is a sign of my impending middle age.

I wouldn't have given a damn in my 20's.

Tutter · 02/05/2007 22:06

i know

i saw it

this, the same day as we had 'record's day' [sic] in lazytown

hatwoman · 02/05/2007 22:08

I'm glad you saw it too. it's started to take on a dreamlike quality (like the day I heard a newsreader get the name Keith Hunt wrong)

hatwoman · 03/05/2007 00:01

I know, was furious and dh said I must have misread because "it's the BBC you know". What hope is there when the Beeb can't get it right?

ChippyMinton · 03/05/2007 10:43

that is shocking, i missed it though because i had already switched channels to gloat over paul's departure.

Birdly · 03/05/2007 10:55

I didn't see it but I'd like to offer sympathy from a fellow pedant who understands the pain!

speedymama · 03/05/2007 11:11

I did not see it but that is shocking.

I bought my DTS a Bob the Builder book (this is commissioned by the BBC). I could not believe the number of mistakes in it. I don't have the book with me but the mistakes were similar to this:

"your going to the yard" as oppose to "you're going",

"Bobs' hammer" as oppose to "Bob's hammer".

I'm going to write to the BBC and publishers about it. I'm not perfect when it comes to the English language but surely publishers as well as the BBC should be at the forefront of safeguarding high standards in grammar?

UnquietDad · 03/05/2007 11:13

I saw it.
I yelled things.
I threw things at the TV.
I would have got on to them straight away if I'd been near the computer.

You know why? Bloody captioning staff probably aged about 22 and have never done a proper qualification in English.
