Sorry, but I feel like a grandmother. The photos are on www.picturetrail.com/pheasantfamily
She is nesting right outside my back door.

Will try and get more photos when I can but she keeps hissing at me!

They are beautiful. Not surprised you feel all granny-ish

SoupDragon · 29/04/2007 15:42

roisin · 29/04/2007 15:45

cazzybabs · 29/04/2007 15:45

They are very sweet! Will you be saying this when they are cheeping and pooing everywhere...or do you like roast pheasent

Saturn74 · 29/04/2007 15:46

Wow - how exciting!

SecondhandRose · 29/04/2007 15:46

She is sat back down again now on all of them including the hatched ones. I am a bit worried as they can easily walk off the side of the butler sink and they won't be able to get back up again.

awwwwwwwwwwwwww how lovely

suedonim · 29/04/2007 17:35

They're all stripey - how cute is that???? Could you put some cardboard round the sides, to stop them falling out?

Lol at 'mum' hissing at you; a friend can't go into parts of her garden because a peahen has taken ownership. She's also taken over their greenhouse and won't let their cats or Great Dane inside, either!

AitchTwoOh · 29/04/2007 17:49

wow, that's wonderful. congratulations grandma.

NannyL · 29/04/2007 18:02

awwwwww so lovely

Nbg · 29/04/2007 18:05

Awwwwww how lovely is this!

I'd put a plank of wood propped up against the side, then they can walk up easily if they fall down.

SecondhandRose · 29/04/2007 18:26

Well, the first one has already tried to escape, we've put her back twice, will go and hunt for some wood.

AitchTwoOh · 29/04/2007 20:30

Whizzz · 29/04/2007 20:40

congratulations!!

NotanOtter · 29/04/2007 22:05

just adorable - it all looks very 'Cath Kidston'!

SecondhandRose · 30/04/2007 07:11

She has them all under her at the moment and last night they kept poking their noses. This morning I can't see any of them but it is still a bit chilly at the moment. She must be so uncomfortable as she has all the empty shells under her too (the feed from them apparently).

As soon as I can I will get some more photos, don't forget to click on them on the site as they will enlarge.

I did go on a pheasant website and it said they can fly within 2 days so I won't be scooping them back in the nest for too long.

Have they all hatched out, do you know?

Oh bugger! It is all going pear shaped. 4 of them left the nest this morning and Mum jumped down and has cleared off with 3 of them leaving 1 crying all day.

There are still 9 unhatched eggs in the nest, I have no idea if Mum will come back for them.

I now have a single tiny crying pheasant which I have placed in a plant pot with leaves in it, seed and a piece of lettuce. She/He is asleep at the moment but goodness knows if she/he will survive the night.

DD is very upset but there isn't much else we can do.
