Had a trip to Ikea yesterday, first visit to a UK one fr many years, , made a list , got there earlyish , found some things we were looking for , seems to be going smoothly until.....

Go to get storage box with sliding lid , can't locate it - queue up for "help" finally discover it has been discontinued even though only introduced last summer.

Get shelves for ds' room - low height so decide we don't need any support cross bars. Get home to assemble it and they're too wobbly and need these bars so back dh goes today for when it opens , hunts in vain , queues up , asks , apparently that size is out of stock in the warehouse even though it is a common component of several shelving units - aargh. So we'll have to make yet another trip for a £2 part !

Got wall shelf for ds' room to which we want to attach sliding drawers underneath as displayed - the runners are in kids area , get shelf from shelf area , supports and drawer boxes. When we get home the screw holes to attach the runners to the shelf are slightly too far apart for that particular width of shelf, so he needs to swap it for the wider shelf.

Why do the wall shelves not come with screws any more either ! The only "success" was a wall shelf unit for dd but even that had no screws to attach it to the wall included!

By the time dh gets back he'll have spent over 5 hours this weekend on just getting this stuff!

Hah , dh bought some lengths of wooden batten from B and Q (where he had to go to get screws ) to make a cross support. Might at least save another trip for now. What is more infuriating is that according to the website the crossbars are in stock there

Slightly different but making up a cabin bed yesterday and 8 screw things missing grrrrrr!
(Yes, I know I should have checked first!)

In the instructions is a form to fill in and send off for any missing parts (obviously happens a lot) but ALLOW UP TO 14 DAYS FOR DELIVERY!!!!

DP spent 2 hours going round DIY shops but everything too big or too long.

So the upshot is - can't make up the rest of the furniture for possibly two weeks as no room and cant move the bed as all wobbly and can't take it apart as some of the joints are glued!
