smoke gets in your eyes!

just had barbque and think am probably doing something wrong

firstly thought bbq was meant to be the male domain!
secondly- am now heading for shower as am just surrounded by a stink of smoke and have to keep blinking to see

food was good though, tasted good I should say.. no idea what it looked like!

it is a gas bbq.. and don't remember others i've seen being quite so smokey- noticed our next door neighbours closed their window..

I think they get particularly smokey if fat drips on the heating bits, whether coal/gas/firestone etc. Also how it's positioned helps - we just discovered that the best position to site a bbq in our garden is as far as it can possibly be from our kitchen! But at least the smoke then doesn't bother us or our laundry (or the neightbours ).
