Hi Yorkie, it was me that started the other thread, have been meaning to post an update.

I'm doing quite well so far, as i haven't bitten them at all. They are growing o.k, but two broke when i was stripping wallpaper.

I'm off out on friday so i've treated myself to some false ones until i can show my own ones of proudly.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if i start biting them again though as I only ususally manage a few weeks.

ive done it. i bit my nails so badly that my nails became deformed. they split at teh bottom and them i used to bite them from the bottom up.

so i decided to stop. and that was it. i now have one nail i can see over the top of my finger, the rest arn't too far behind. i still have one deformed nail but its getting better.

i just decided to stop and became conciously aware of when i was biting my nails and stopped myself

I am one too. I have given up loads of times, had lovely nails and said never again...... but I always start again.

Help!

Mine just break and split ... and then I end up having a good chew!

Well done on the weight loss Yorkie!!!!

I'm a serial nailbiter too, and have been for as long as I can remember. The only way I could stop was to keep them painted, but since having children that kind of went out of the window. I bite the skin round them too.
Yuk, I disgust even myself!

it is nice to know there are other grown ups out there still doing this - I can still remember biting my first nail the age of 6 and thinking how good it felt - 33 years later, I am a total addict - I even bite my DDs nails..

I have to give though as my 4yo DS also bites his and as he gets worms from time to time, I have to encourage him to stop... and it is a bit difficult to do that with no nails! I will try again - thought about buying that Sally hansen stuff - will go out a lunch time and see how we get on!
