Booked a deal last minute today (for 3 weeks time), came home and looked it up on the internet - it appears to be rather shite - now v.worried.

I really don't want to go on it from reading the reviews.

Any experience of changing a holiday quite last minute??

Anyone?

OP posts:
pindy · 26/04/2007 22:42

where is it?

pindy · 26/04/2007 22:43

It really can depend on what review site you look at, some vary sooooo much depending on the type of person who is reviewing

Smurfgirl · 26/04/2007 22:44

Its in Furteventura - have read 4 diff review sites v.mixed reviews but even taking the average its shite.

And the shite stuff is really shite - like gross pools, bad infections from the pool, awful food, food poisioning, regular burglaries etc

I really want to change the holiday. Its me and a friend (we are 22) so we are not fussy, just don't want hell hole type place!

Where did you book it? If online, go to a local travel agent and tell them you are thinking of going there and what is it like.

pindy · 26/04/2007 22:51

If you are really bothered go back into the Travel Agents and ask them what the place is like and if they say "bad" then ask them why they are advertising such an awful place and you want to change

bubblerock · 26/04/2007 22:51

What's the name of the hotel? Was it a cheap deal?

MrsSpoon · 26/04/2007 22:58

Fuerteventura is lovely but the place you are staying doesn't sound so great. If it helps any my Mum booked a holiday a couple of years ago and I looked it up on one of those review sites, the reviews were awful and I couldn't bring myself to tell her. As it turned out they had a nice holiday, the complex they stayed in wasn't the best but it wasn't as awful as the review site made out.

If you do decide to pull out you might be interested in renting the Spoon's apartment here .

(I understand if MN want to delete this link. I have been in contact with MNHQ about advertising and am on the verge of placing an ad with them, it's just the apartment isn't quite 100% ready to go, waiting for the go ahead with the Sky instal and as soon as that is done I will be placing an ad and paying my dues to MN.)

Cheap flights are available to Murcia airport.

MrsSpoon · 26/04/2007 23:00

BTW, the price on the ad for the cleaning is wrong but anyone booking while the page still says £20 will only pay £20.

Smurfgirl · 26/04/2007 23:04

If i change it i will have to stay with first choice

i think we are going to change to self catering in greece or cyrpus

i feel so stupid for booking

I really don't know what to do, these are the reviews-
here

some say its excellent - others say its awful

Sounds like they may have pulled their socks up, most of the bad reviews seem to be at least six months back. I think it was Caleta de Fuste we stayed in, although it was not these appartments, there were plenty of nice restaurants but I didn't like the local beach, IMO the north of the island is much more attractive but it was still a good holiday.

Dimpled · 26/04/2007 23:12

Look smurfgirl I am always fucking terrified after every holiday I have booked. I have fretted and lain awake a night worst cases scenario-ing it to the end of the earth.

They have all been fine - if not fab.

TBH how bad could it really be?

Don't worry.

Recent reviews are good.

MrsSpoon my cousins advertise their villa through holidaylettings too. I won't put a link since I doubt they have even heard of mumsnet, let alone been in consultation about placing an ad!

MrsSpoon · 27/04/2007 12:13

SueW, do your cousins find Holiday Lettings successful? I don't know anyone else who advertises with them so would be interested to know.

SueW · 27/04/2007 17:32

They haven't been on there long, tbh. I'll try to rmemeber to ask them.

Another friend who rented out their apartment in Ibiza said her best source of bookings was through David Lloyd - until the airlines changed their flights locally and then it became less appealing as people had to drive further to get a flight.

Smurfgirl · 28/04/2007 12:44

To update -

We have changed the holiday and are now going to Cyprus. First Choice (v.good) have not charged us anything to change and its working out much cheaper.

I researched the new apartments and they look fabulous! I am going to Ayia Napa so hopefully will come back tanned and hung over!
