helen Oh dear I worry I've given you the wrong idea and that I'm some sort of domestic goddess 😂

I iron: dhs work shirts, my blouses and linen shirts/shirts (summer only), dcs uniform (trousers only)

Honestly

That's it

It doesn't take long really but I just HATE it 😣 my mum used to make me iron everything...even tea towels.
I mean wtf?

I do wash everyday, that's true but most of it gets put away/hung up

I actually can't remember the last time I did the bathroom letus
(Adds to job list)

Well....better get ds2 to bed

LetUsPrey · 21/01/2018 22:01

DS1 is ironing. It’s a sight to behold Grin I’ve got a drink whilst I’m watching him

I know the last time I properly cleaned the bathroom. It was the last time my parents came round for tea Grin

FancyFancy · 21/01/2018 22:41

I think someone mentioned thiiiiiighs Grin

LetUsPrey · 21/01/2018 22:54

Strong muscular thighs Fancy

LetUsPrey · 21/01/2018 22:59

The HBFs kindly pictured by Helen are now going to use their strong muscular thighs to climb up to the hayloft with me and demonstrate how important they are when it comes to thrusting

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/01/2018 23:09

I've just been trying to measure myself for an online size chart - looking at a new coat.

I am:
Chest size S
Waist XL
Hips M
Sleeve L
FFAS...

DH has just laughed and called me a ball, then we compared arm lengths.. "Bloody Hell, you are an orangutan"
Oh, the romance... Grin

OP posts:
mrsreynolds · 22/01/2018 07:59

I'm the opposite helen
I have ridiculously short arms
Ugh
Monday

LetUsPrey · 22/01/2018 08:09

Morning wenches.

On what planet do you have an XL waist Helen? Or were you looking at children’s sizing chart? And I hear you on the orangutan arms. Yes, this new jumper/jacket is supposed to be a bracelet length sleeve —it’s not—

Your arms are still long enough for wrapping round an HBF Badderz so that’s what matters

I don’t accept that it’s Monday. Go away Monday.

Morning

Also bemused by the 'large' waist
Need to get moving but am stuck under ScaredyCat who's enjoying her morning cuddle.

ApricotCrush · 22/01/2018 12:50

Afternoon all. DH has gone to have lunch with his mates at the golf club. Hurrah for him and for me !

About traditional male/female jobs LetUs. I think it's a generational thing. I'm fine with role reversal, but we're a team and both do what we're good at. I can't do DIY, gardening, car stuff and DH can't do washing, ironing, cooking although he does press his trousers as I'm useless at doing creases. The DC's never did their own washing when they were at home. It wouldn't have been economical, the machine would have been on all the time. Grin

I would like to have a meal cooked for me occasionally though. DH's father always did the cooking in their house and his mother once told me I hadn't trained DH properly. I told her she had him first. Strangely DS is a great cook, and I didn't train him. It must have skipped a generation. Hmm

Aww at ScaredyCat and her morning cuddle. Buffy is being unco-operative.

How true Helen. Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/01/2018 13:31

Party at apricots! Grin

arse - have forgotten to hang out washing!

Laters...

OP posts:
mrsreynolds · 22/01/2018 17:16

Typed out a massive post and mn is playing silly buggers and it won't post 😡

Long story short....its taken years to train dh

years

The low point was him asking me how to fill a mop bucket [eye rolls into another dimension]

mrsreynolds · 22/01/2018 17:53

Off to 2nd voluntary role of the day...

Had a row with dh...kettle broke this morning. I bought a (cheap) replacement as I quite fancied a drink

This was wrong apparently...as he "can fix" the old one

Just occasionally I want to stab him in the eye with a fork

Kettle wanker

LetUsPrey · 22/01/2018 20:59

Evening wenches. Have been to exerciseclass for the first time in aaaaaages. Have made the mistake of sitting down and now the washing machine is beeping at me. I do feel rather virtuous though. Stop laughing.

Love that cartoon Helen Grin totally spot on

I agree with you Apricot. You do what you’re good at. I am a crap cook and don’t enjoy it. DH is a very good cook and enjoys it. I sometimes like baking and am okay at it. DH and baking - no. I do all washing, ironing, house and school admin. I’m used to my mum’s traditional views Grin but they won’t be being passed on.

As far as DS1 is concerned, he is just generally going to have to get off his arse and learn and help. If he was busy revising and doing homework, I’d let him off, but he isn’t.

Oh MrBadderz, you muppet.

I need to get off the settee.

FancyFancy · 22/01/2018 21:01

@ kettle wanker

Well helen's always chopping stuff up in teh garden & I wield a mean drill letus, so how about we come up with our tools and disconcert your mum? Wink

LetUsPrey · 22/01/2018 21:04

She’d be well confused Fancy Grin. I wouldn’t mind but years ago, when I lived on my own, my dad bought me a little tool box and tool kit

FancyFancy · 22/01/2018 21:20

Sounds like your dad is sensible Grin
I could confuse her even more & arrive bearing home cooked baked goods - I have cup cakes cooling in teh kitchen atm Grin ooh get me, I'm being genderfluid, how very up my own arse now

LetUsPrey · 22/01/2018 21:33

I think it was a bit of a blip to be honest Grin. He’s very much “that’s women’s work” and it works for them and they’re happy but that’s not the way it’s going to be here. I will have capable, independent children. Possibly.

Anyway, cupcakes you say

mrsreynolds · 22/01/2018 21:35

My dad taught me to weld and use a lathe 😁

I'm much better at both of those than sewing or knitting or any other so called "feminine" skills

I hate cooking!
Hate it. I think decades of trying to come up with menu plans, new ideas, stuff we will all like has taken its toll.
I quite like baking but I have to be in the mood

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/01/2018 21:44

My Dad bought me a drill when I moved out too - DH was most alarmed when we got together, because my drill was bigger/better than his Grin

(I know, I don't recall her doing any particlar DIY stuff in Aliens either, but you know, it's the mood/ambiance thing...)
I love the idea of a Thelma and Louise style wench outing with power tools and gardening equipment to disconcert all parents who are stuck in 'Women's work' mindset.

Can I have cupcake too please? I need to bake some so I have some to take to work tomorrow. For my lunch - not to feed the masses with!

In Shock / double-take news, I just came cross MrsB on twitter. Nothing of interest there, just the surprise of accidentally coming across her on the timeline of a parcel delivery business that I needed to check the contact details for. Grin

Has Buffy cooperated yet, or is she still a tangled fluffball?

LetUsPrey · 22/01/2018 22:32

Mmm quite like the idea of all these wenches with power tools....

Am watching Hard Sun ep4. Am watching parts of it from behind my dressing gown, but it is good. Quite chilling though. If ever there was a night I need HBF dreams, it’s tonight.
