Anyone - we have had an offer on a house accepted as the first one we wanted to buy is now in limbo as the woman who lives there is refusing to vacate until her divorce settlement comes through which could be forever - she has said she doesn't want to lose the sale but I am too fecKed off to carry on with it and other House in Borough Green is nicer!!

So do you live there, do you know anyone who does or send their kids to school there???

Any info greatly appreciated..............

not sure if this will help, but we used to live in Wrotham (the village that's right up the road from Borough Green).

BG is okay, but when we moved from Wrotham to Maidstone last august, there was more and more antisocial behaviour taking place in BG (broken windows, robberies, etc..) it has most things you would need to get by. (station, CO-OP, chemist, library, post office, bakery, etc.)

i dont know anything about the school there, although i had a friend who used to live there and her daughter (who was 6 at the time) went to the primary school in BG and she (her mom) didnt think too much of the school, but that's only one opinion. i'd check it out on Ofsted's website too.

biggest bonus for me while there was the surgery was fantastic. no long waits for appt's. never had a sour GP and the HV's are lovely too. (especially Lise and Maureen!)

good luck to you!!

Oh my god am scared now.

#Have checked out the school and it does seem lovely - results are good and the ofsted result is very encouraging - DH said last night that a guy he woks with lives there and they had trouble a few years ago with 'pikeys' coming in from Swanley and creating havoc butit has been cleared up now - wink wink nudge nudge - not sure if this meant they were rounded up and given a good pasting but then at least it meant that something was dome about it.

Glad there is a libraby for book worm DD and that the Drs is good as you literally have to be on the phone for an hour where we live at the mo to get an appointment and that is only if you are ont he brink of death or your limbs are in danger of falling off!!

Thanks for the advice - we are ging to go down on Sumnday and have a snoop around and I will ask mums and dads that I acost about thre schools.

no disrespect meant to anyone but i have fmaily that live close by and i used to and alot of that area is know as "pikey Land "

Twinkie1 · 27/04/2007 11:25

Excellent - I am moving to Pikey Land - what do I do - the house is beautiful and I so don't want to live around here anymore - hopefully I can move in and throw huge garden parties and install some class in to the area - I will even buy a range rover and dress like Margo Ledbetter and hopefully encourage the other ladies of the village to do so.

ROFL

americantrish · 27/04/2007 12:18

well, i mean, you gotta balance it all out. having a visit and talking to some people around there is a good idea. and there are some lovely parks around there too.. (not in BG, but not too far away.) not sure how old your children are, but there's a great playgroup in wrotham village too (we used to go before we moved.)
i wouldnt let what a few people say put you off really, go on your instincts. where abouts in BG is the house?

Twinkie1 · 27/04/2007 12:21

Staleys Green - is exactley the kind of old house that we wanted with lovely big rooms and a cellar for DHs wine collection.

DD is nearly 7 and DS is 2.5 so think it a good time to move and I hate living round here now - the gangs of lads hanging about and girls inappropriately dressed and drinking on street corners and smoking is just awful.

God I am already turning into a Margo!!
