I'm sure you've got all of these on your list already but when we moved 4 years ago we informed,
Gas
Electric
Phone
Bank
insurers
Library
school
work
credit card
video shop
Catalogues that we had i.e Next directory etc
internet provider
council
Tv Licence
DVLA
benefits agency

Don't know if there is a list anywhere online but HTH

The Inland Revenue (your employer DOESN'T pass on your new address) & the National Insurance Contributions office.

foxinsocks · 25/07/2004 17:27

there is a website. I didn't use this when I moved but know someone who did.

We forgot to inform Sainsbury's when we moved and almost lost around £100 of reward vouchers when they switched to their Nectar cards. Took a few stern letters to get our vouchers... Water company and mobile phone too. Any company you have savings with. Friends and family (unless you would be happy to miss a few ...)

If you take out a redirection thingy with the Post Office you'll receive all your post as usual and can then just tell people about your CofA as the bills etc come in, rather than having to do the whole lot at once.

I think the po redirect is a waste of money. The people that we bought our last house from, had the redirect for 6 months or so and we would get their mail quite regularly anyway. I think it was when there was a substitute postman, or the regular postman was on holiday, which seemed to happen way too often. Luckily for them, they had been really really nice during the sale (moving it along very quickly to suit us, even though it didn't really suit them) and had left the house spotless. I got their forwarding address and sent on mail to them on a regular basis for years.

Oh, we definitely had our money's worth from the redirection when we had our mail forwarded to Indonesia. In 15mths only one parcel went astray and I'm pretty sure it wasn't at the UK end. We've moved countless times and always had good service.

Last week the PO delivered a letter which had the correct first line of address but the wrong town and postcode on it!! It was sent by the DVLA, d'oh! Mind you, we always have the same couple of PO men so I guess they know us by now.

We did the redirection thingy too. When we moved about 3 years ago, I can't remember how long we took on it, a few months anyway.

It caught letters from places we forgot, there is always something you forget!

TBH I thought it worth the money as we wouldn't have wanted our previous landlady to get her hands on any of our mail!
