I see people sell them on ebay but don't use ebay... can you actually do anything with them once you no longer have an account?

You can get a free card from sky and use it to view freeview channels so no need to buy another set top box

I had loads of ntl boxes at one point!! I've also got 2 ntl cable modems now... are they good for anything except the bin??

I dunno - ours is sitting at the bottom of a pile of other things that aren't useful anymore but take up loads of space ggrrr

actually, if it can be used as a freeview box, I might try and do that but I think I'd have to get another aerial point put in so it would probably not be worth it

Ooh do you think I could get an NTL one on Ebay?
I didn't bring mine with me when I moved and now NTL want to charge me £250 because I didn't return it.
I said 'surely you don't really reuse a 5 year old modem and digibox?' but I don't think I have a leg to stand on legally.

Do you still have yours by any chance, Zephyrcat?

zephyrcat · 23/04/2007 19:46

You can def get ntl ones on ebay.. I put mine on there back when I did use it - sorry!

Think they went for about £30-40. I guess people just buy them cheap and chip them.

We used our VERY old Sky box to use the Sky Freesat card. The card cost £25, but was a one off payment. You do need a dish too but where I am people never take them with them. We moved in here, connected the dish the people before had left and bought the freesat card. They had to do a software update but must have done it via the satelite (???). I had to press some buttons on the front and then wait for some lights to go out and then it was all systems go!

Well if I can get one for that and NTL accept it, it will save me £200...
thanks for the idea!
