Because some people are bitches regardless whether they are a SAHM or a WOHM.

shouldbedoingsomethingelse · 23/04/2007 12:56

Can I make a tiny confession here. I havent got a clue what WOHM means (I worked out the W is Work and the HM may be Home Mother !)

Someone enlighten me please ?

quadrophenia · 23/04/2007 12:57

I agree, i'm amazed at all the sweeping statements being banded around

brimfull · 23/04/2007 12:57

"work outside the home mother "perhaps

LadyMacbeth · 23/04/2007 12:57

Should be:

Work Outside the Home Mother (I think)

shouldbedoingsomethingelse · 23/04/2007 12:58

oh right

Thanks

quadrophenia · 23/04/2007 12:59

I reckon i must actually exist in a wierdy bubble, because I never see this in rl, and I have friends who fit into both categories

WAHM is Work At Home Mother
WOHM is Work Outside Home Mother (sounds like you are in a shed in the garden)

mytwopenceworth · 23/04/2007 13:02

yes. sahm is not better than wohm. wohm is not better than sahm.

if we could all stop fighting over who is doing it the 'right way' and have a bit of live and let live, respecting everyones right to live their life the way they want to, and stop sticking our oar in, it would be much less stressful.

of course, mumsnet would drop to about 6 posts a day......

and

shouldbedoingsomethingelse · 23/04/2007 13:02

I saw my first Crocs the other day (OK OK I live a sheltered life) and my DD said in a way too loud voice "hey mum look at those weird shoes"

Boobsgonesouth · 23/04/2007 13:03

so what would be "self employed racing around like a blue arsed fly " be shortened too..

or "self employed working from home desperately seeking small office"

...are you around Lady Mc B?

Why should what someone does (work out of home, work p/t, work in home looking after kids) affect their personality? Find these attitudes v weird.

Swizzler · 23/04/2007 13:04

hope I'm not defined by my job

I AM NOT A NUMBER

LadyMacbeth · 23/04/2007 13:05

Same here Quad. In RL I couldn't really give a stuff whether my friends work or not. The media is to blame. The hacks need something contentious to discuss.

swifterella · 23/04/2007 13:06

as women we should be supporting each other not judgemental of each other's life choices surely? what happened to sisterhood eh??!

NKF · 23/04/2007 13:07

Is it just me but I always think "stay at home mum" sounds as if the poor woman has been grounded.

Wotzsaname · 23/04/2007 13:10

Boobsgonesouth - lets think of some others

OBWOSD

Own Boss Working On Small Desk

tigerschick · 23/04/2007 13:10

lol NKF! Totally agree - it doesn't correspond to rl at all. WHy should it matter here? Everyone should just live their own lives the way they want to, surely!?

NomDePlume · 23/04/2007 13:14

I'm a b*tch and I've been both !
