Hello! Am sat in very nice hotel but internet costing a fortune so cannot stay long. Surreal day, at 7am we were stood half naked outside BBC studios for opening shots. It will look as though we are naked, but rest assured we are NOT! Very wierd though, and not for the faint hearted! Half expected to see some heart-throb just as I am perched on top of "elephant steps" in a boob tube and VERY short saronging thing! Kids were great though. Never again will I do anything like that, totally against my nature! Going to France on Sunday, will try to find internet cafes along the way. Missing you all loads already and wish I had the time to scroll through all the threads so I could cause trouble and controversy! Just have to leave that to Custy I guess!
A Bientot!

katierocket · 26/07/2004 09:54

ghosty - she's going to live in France and is being featured on BBC programme called 'The Naked Us' (or something) which will be on next year.

Custy

Ghosty · 28/07/2004 23:02

Aw custy .... poor you ....
But you know, I live billions of miles away from my best friend (my sister) and we are actually more in touch than before as I speak to her via msn messenger at least 2x a week and speak on the phone 1x a week ...
Don't be sad Custy

Cam · 29/07/2004 16:27

Custy, but you live much nearer France than the North of England - honestly, there's only a little bit of water between you - visiting her will be great..........

Marina · 29/07/2004 19:53

Custy, Newhaven-Dieppe! Know how you must be feeling though, my best friend lives 500 miles away now. Horrid, isn't it.
Rhubarb, I think you have just ensured record ratings for your programme. Hope all is going really well on your travels and you manage to keep us updated. Bonne route et bon courage!

Am in Chamonix - van broke down coming back that day from Dijon, so we had to be rescued and the van spent 2 days in the garage, costing us 407 euros. But we have finally made it here and I'm scouting around for a job to keep us at the expensive campsite run by a very hard-nosed woman who obviously is very bitter about something in her life. Will keep you all up to date. Filming starts again on Monday, we haven't missed them! Missing everyone at home though!

Tinker · 12/08/2004 11:21

ooh, we'll be near you soon Rhubarb. Going to the Vosges next weekend. Can't remember nearest big town. Bad luck about the van

Fio2 · 12/08/2004 11:24

Marina · 12/08/2004 20:47

Good luck with finding a job and with Madame Pis-Vinaigre...we miss you too.

tigermoth · 13/08/2004 07:49

I wonder if Mrs bitter will sweeten up once she sees you have a TV crew in attendance? hope so!

Good luck with the job hunting.

Rhubarb · 25/08/2004 11:46

In Clermont Ferrand, which is a bit like the French equivalent of Oldham, so how ironic that we might find ourselves stuck here!
Briefly, important things first, climbed up stupid mountain in Alps (dh' idea), and I fell and banged my elbow really hard! There was blood everywhere and the stupid film crew guy just whipped out his bloody camera! So if I look pissed off it's 'cause I was! But I was being brave and didn't make too much fuss. But I think a bit of rock punctured the skin just over that pointy bit of your elbow bone and it struck the bone. So it is now very bruised almost a week later and still painful. But I hardly go on about it, I'm being really brave about it all!

So anyway, came here and I started to look for work. Went to the Uni here and bumped into this guy on the steps who just so happened to be the Chairman of the Uni! He took my card (I wrote out business cards!) and asked me loads of questions and said that he would try to get me a place! So good news there although I probably wouldn' choose to live here, it's a step in the right direction and I wouldn't turn him down. But I won' hear till next week so we shall still head for Bordeaux and I can always come back for an interview or whatever.

Kids are fine, caravan is still holding together, but bits keep breaking off zhich isn't so good!
Hasn't Mumsnet changed!

Fio2 · 25/08/2004 12:24

hello Rhuby! Hope the elbow gets bets quick and your interview chat goes okay too

krocket · 25/08/2004 12:32

rhuby I was only wondering how you were getting on the other day. Glad all is going well.

tigermoth · 26/08/2004 08:43

hi, hope the bits that break off the caravan aren't important ones. Keep on trucking as they say :)

Rhubarb · 07/09/2004 14:15

Just got time to say that we are in Bordeaux being well loked after by a Mumsnetter! She says I can use her pc soon so can't wait to find out what's been going on!
