summer shoes for children

i always thought children's feet grew really quickly ut my toddlers have been the same size for ages. So they are still in their winter boots.

Anyone else got their children going round in t shirts and shorts and winter boots looking really ridiculous?

Just wondering what to do. They are so expensive but don't really like going to a cheap shop where they don't do different widths and don't have trained people to check they fit well. But if i get them some cooler shoes will they suddenly decide to grow and need some more?

Can you get something like Clarks Doodles, Startrite et al do similar - breathable canvas which don't cost as much as the leather ones. They should allow for growing room anyway.

Doodles are cheap ,about 11 or 12 pound.

yes i did wonder about doodles but would be afraid of the weather suddenly turning and the shoes getting soaked and ruined

you can just throw doodles in the washing machine.
I just got doodle copies (£5) and walking sandles (£7) for ds1 and ds2 respectively. ds1 has always had clarks winter shoes until last time when they just said they had nothing that would fit him, thats not nothing in that particular shop, its nothing full stop. He now gets whatever fits! Canvas summer shoes or sandles I am much less bothered about.

Doodles are fab cos you can wash them often and they don't spoil.

sandals are more forgiving of growth and some are more water resistant.

My dd2 doesn't like her doodles this year and took ages to find ones that fit, very hard to get the things ON for her (she's 4) seems to be the issue, though she liked the pattern at the time. DD1 couldn't get anything to fit at all (long narrow and needs new school shoes).

my ds is walking around with his winter shoes on with shorts and t shirts has doodles for next week (holiday) but he wont wear any thing on his feet apart from his shoes

so you are not alone

Remember you can buy sandals in at least a size bigger because it's good that their toes are far from the end and it doesn't matter if they're a bit loose.

I got dd's feet measured at John Lewis, then went onto ebay and got her some smashing brand new sandals for next to nothing.

When mine were smaller, sandals and Doodles (and wellies!) did them from APril until October.
And I live in SCotland! Now tehy have trainers instead of Doodles.

jelly shoes £2 each my kids used to wear these all summer.

now we have progressed onto reefs.

buy sandals and they last all summer because children's toes can still grow further without shoe changes!

cheep, cheep!
