what are we doing wrong??

OH and myself have tidy jobs with a comfortable wage.
We live in an ex council house
have 3 children and a dog and we camp in the holidays
we have just remortgaged and taken a bit extra for home improvements.
People our age are buying big detached houses and going on flash holidays and we are still struggling to make ends meet?

Please someone tell me what we are doing wrong.......

How old are you and your OH? Where in the country are you - no need to be specific?

The people with the big houses and the flash holidays, do they live in your area? Do you know them personally? Do they have kids? Are they in the same line of work/salary bracket as you and your OH?

Forgive all my questions but there are so many variables. They may have saved up the deposit to be able to buy a house that size. Or they may have inherited money. They may buy their holidays on credit. And some people buy a large house that has been badly neglected by previous owners and they spend every spare minute renovating their house.

It's guesswork if you don't know the background.
