Shopping depresses me

and turns me into a petulant 13 year old... seriously I finally dumped my littlest one on a friend, after she'd driven me crazy most of the day

and then went shopping .. mooching in and out of shops thinking bugger that's ugly, they don't have my size, that'd make me look elephantine

and that's why when I found myself in front of the Hobbs window I went in

and that's why when the lovely lady asked if she could help I told her how depressed I was

and that's most probably why I blew about a year's clothing on ONE outfit

bugger

Hathor · 17/04/2007 22:55

controlfreaky2 · 17/04/2007 22:58

well, they're v nice..... but not exactly for everyday..... was the shopping for any special do or just for general wear??

Heathcliffscathy · 17/04/2007 22:58

twiglett.

twas a good move.

better a few hundred on classic hobbs that you'll be wearing in ten years time than a fraction of that on crap that will fall apart on first wash and you don't even like anyway.

Twiglett · 17/04/2007 22:59

and when they give them to you .. they put tissue in the toe and wrap each one individually before putting them in the shoe box

I don't belive I've ever owned shoes that had been individually wrapped before

I bought my dh a pair of gorgeous shoes that came in their own little soft clothb bag.

Heathcliffscathy · 17/04/2007 23:01

you will still have them and still wear them in years time trust me.

they are beautiful btw. loving the colour

exbury · 17/04/2007 23:01

I hope you know someone you can force to get married / christen a DC/ invite you to the races so that you have an occasion to justify your fab outfit...

Bubble99 · 17/04/2007 23:01

Twig. If it's any consolation, I'm resigned to the oversized look this summer.

Ten years of being pregnant has finished me, shape-wise.

But I'm 40 now and I want to be (reasonably) slim again before I die.

SlightlyMadSecret · 17/04/2007 23:02

It depresses me too...

When I have money to spend/an occasion to buy for I can't find anything I like

When I can't find anything I like I just watch all hte people passing by in clothes and shoes I love and I just want to stop them and ask where they got them from.

When I have no money I see loads of things I love

I don't do 'trendy' but by the time teh style has grown on me it is the end of the season so it is pointless buying and they never have my size anyway as the racks are full of unwanted size 8s, 20s, 22s & 24s

Twiglett · 17/04/2007 23:04

I have 2 parties within next month .. one is a big family do

am I the only one who divides the cost by the amount of times I wear an outfit to see if its 'value for money'

so far .. ummm no

OP posts:
exbury · 17/04/2007 23:05

LOL - no you're not the only one!

How many more occasions before it passes your personal "value threshold"?

Gobbledigook · 17/04/2007 23:06

Oh, lovely shoes though. £115 well spent imo.

Twiglett · 17/04/2007 23:10

I am left with wondering what colour my nails should be with those shoes though

suggestions?

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 17/04/2007 23:11
