tips for cleaning poo off the carpet

anyone got any good tips? I left DS for 2 minutes of freedom without his nappy on (having just taken off a dirty one) and when I turned my back for a second he pooed and then proceeded to walk in it and spread it even further over the carpet. I've used water first, then a carpet cleaner and then Savlon but it still smells and the stain is still there.
Help please.

oh dear sound like a nightmare day!

luckily dd's poos are mostly 'pellet of poos' - as we call them... or those peelable ones!!! plus she isn't walking yet so no fear of it being trodden in (but more chance of rolling around in it!)

anyway! i've always heard that baby wipes are really good for getting stuff off carpets!

mckenzie, I was just feeling guilty this morning about being fanatical about not letting ds go anywhere without his nappy (in case of accidents)....thank you...now I don't feel guilty anymore....

I had a similar problem yesterday. DD and DS2 (3 and 6) decided it was bathtime, went into the bathroom and got undressed. Unfortunately DD had done a poo in her pull-ups which then was somehow spread all around the bathroom whilst DS2 was trying to wipe her bottom for her. Of course, DH wasn't able to sort this out so I had to break off making tea, do the dirty stuff and then bath the kids before I could finish making tea. Don't know why DH let them do it in the first place never mind leaving me to do all the jobs whilst he felt sorry for himself (but that's another thread).

For cleaning poo off carpets I usually scrape up the solids, get as much off with damp kitchen roll/toilet roll and then have a go with the carpet shampoo.

I've not tried this but maybe that Febreeze stuff would help remove the smell from the carpet?

We moved house - expensive, but it worked!

If you can borrow a Vax, they're meant to be superb.

flood with water - blot with loads of kitchen roll. then use water with some handwash liquid detergent, blot again. Then use a teaspoon of ammonia in lots of water, blot. Then plain water, blot.

This works!

But - don't use the ammonia if you have a cat or dog - they will be drawn to the smell (even if too faint for your nose) and may decide to add to your problem!

My cat hasn't obliged with this trick yet!

A solution of bicarb eliminates almost any smell in the world (well, any smell I've needed to eliminate in my house!) and you don't get the nice smell over the top of nasty smell that shampoos and sprays can leave behind.

There's something i get from my local hardware store designed for ridding carpets of stains and smells from pet accidents. It's a clear liquid that you let soak in for a few minutes then just wash with normal soap and water. It's safe and leaves no odour behind. Of course I can't remember what it's called at the moment - sorry! Try your local hardward or pet store.

I don't know if I'm to late but vanish power shot works a treat. Another miricle stain remover is desolve it, the label says it gets almost everything off almost anything and so far it has. I use so much of it I could do with shares!

When my son was a couple of tiny I was niaeve enough to hold his legs in the air while I reached for a nappy and we had projectile poo everywhere, the carpet, the walls, his canvas clothes stack (which it soaked through all over the clothes)and to top it all off me! I never did it again though!!
