I have just burst into tears on my mother, because i can see know way of getting out of debt and above water again. Bills are just freaking me out and i keep ignoring them. Anyhow she has just offered to look after my boys for six weeks in the summer so i can work. I need to find a full time summer job any ideas?

Bar work? Fruit picking? Clothes stores? Post Office takes on temp staff, what about that? Come and be my nanny ?

beachyhead · 20/07/2004 17:52

Catering for weddings, florist for weddings or putting up marquees (if you are big and strong). If you live near a tourist resort, local papers are doing masses of ads for seasonal work at the moment. Phone the tourist board. Or working in posh stately home, theme park, Butlins.....

Where do you go to find about fruit picking, i suppose the job centre? I have to go into town tomorrow to hand my portfolio into a college so i will look then. Shall i come and be your nanny and give you the keys to my house, six weeks of freedom

Thanks Beachy, you have given me an idea to ring an agency about catering, thats quite flexible and better money than looking for work independantly. Cheers

Was just going to suggest waitressing at events, through a temp agency. Can you type? I would think office temping would be a good bet at this time of year to cover holidays. You can be my nanny but I can't pay you.

Beety, but is he a lovely young man? Would I want to flirt outrageously with him?

bundle · 20/07/2004 18:29

temping is definitely the best paid, i got about £11 an hour, and that was about 10 years ago, at least

Lmb, well it goes like this i dropped out of uni, went travelling to find myself, worked doing all sorts, fell in love had two boys. Came home. So as such my jobs have always been pap, student and travelling jobs, great c.v. i don't think.
I can on the otherhand wrap fish and chips faster then anyone i know. I have blagged myself cheffing jobs a lot, so can cook, i have worked with Learning dissabities kids, the elderly, call centres, hair dressers, handing out flyers, paint wall hangings for clubs, jack of all trades master of none.

My mum has just rang back and said for gods sakes make sure the job is away, you need to get out of your house for a while and look at things away from the situation, esp while court is going on, i am now looking on the web at hostel jobs, i'm afraid i am too late. I bet people think i am terrible contemplating leaving my kids for that long but after everything that has happened i need some time out to be a better mum
