Problem In-Laws

I have an awful relationship with my partners family, in particular his mother. I can’t stand any of them and I really feel that it is going to drive us apart. It was bearable before but now we have a baby it’s becoming a real problem as we are seeing them more often. I just don’t know what to do about it...anyone else have a bad relationship with their in-laws?

My relationship with my ILs has been very up and down, and at times we considered going nc but after a lot of stress things have been OK for over a year.

It's difficult to give any advice without more info. Do you just not like them or are they causing trouble?

What does his mother do that bothers you so much? Can your partner intervene somehow to make it more bearable? Does it bother him that you don't get along?

Can you articulate what they do that's awful?

Can your dp see them with the baby and without you?
