My husband has planned a romantic trip to Rome, just the two of us. We have been planning it for months. I have been really excited. But since we have dropped DD with my inlaws a couple of hours ago I have been having second thoughts. We won't be back till sunday night! I have never left her that long. I have felt physically sick since I hugged her goodbye. DH will kill me if we cancel but I am really tempted to. Please talk me out of it.

Don't be mad. You little girl will have a great time without you and you and your DH need some you time. Of course you miss her, of course it feels weird, but this is going to be good for everyone involved. Have an amazing time, xx

Are you mad?? Enjoy the break, she will be.

TeeCee · 11/04/2007 21:06

Who'll thank you for cancelling? No-one. Not your DD, not your inlaws who are looking forward to some quality time, and certainly not your DH.

southeastastra · 11/04/2007 21:07

oh please go! please you'll have fun, your daughter will be just fine it's not long

paulaplumpbottom · 11/04/2007 21:07

I know she'll have a good time. They have lots planned for her. Its just the idea of being so far away if something goes wrong.

SHE WILL BE FINE

Enjoy your trip.

I am very very

DimpledThighs · 11/04/2007 21:08

oh poor you - she will be fine and she will have a wonderful time and it is important for her to learn to be without you.

I had a friend who had a romantic weekend away and cried the whole way to the eurostar and then as soon as they were on their way she felt wonderful and had the best weekend ever.

You will be fine - have a wonderful time.

Ulysees · 11/04/2007 21:08

believe me paula once you're there it'll go The ILs would be a bit insulted IMO if you did cancel. Dh survived them didn't he? It will do dd the world of good.

paulaplumpbottom · 11/04/2007 21:09

Thanks guys. You are all right of course. I don't know why I am being so silly

Ohhh go!!!

We're off on Friday lunchtime 'til Sunday night & my sister is minding our 2.

If it would set your mind at ease, call IL's or text them & get an update on how dd has settled

Have a great time

TeeCee · 11/04/2007 21:10

Your PIL did a good job with you DH didnb't they? Yes. Trust them. Trust yourself to have a good time. You're very lucky, now relax and be happy, open the wine and start the holiday

jenwa · 11/04/2007 21:10

It prob hard now as you are at home and she is usually with you but when you go away together it will be somewhere where DD is not normaly there and you will enjoy qualitiy time with DH. It is the initial reaction I think. Go, it will be lovely. You know DD is safe and you have a lovely break to look forward to and once thats over a lovely greeting from DD.

funnypeculiar · 11/04/2007 21:11

completely understandable, but she'll be fine, you know she will! Me & dh went to AMsterdam for 3 nights last year... the minute we got there, we somehow went inot another mode - still missed him like crazy, but realised how much we'd missed real time to ourselves too.

And Rome is lovely

Kbear · 11/04/2007 21:11

No, cancel - stay at home with a seriously pissed off DH and a heartbroken DD who was wrenched from the loving arms of her doting grandparents. It'll be great

GO GO GO GO GO GO

TeeCee · 11/04/2007 21:11

You're a mum, it's your job.
I hate not being with my kids but love it at the same time!

ComeOVeneer · 11/04/2007 21:11

You aren't being silly, you are being a mother. She will be fine, she will love being spoilt, they will love spoiling her, it will do your relationship with dh a power of good having some child free time. Go and enjoy.

IntergalacticWalrus · 11/04/2007 21:12
