Baby naming traumas

My friend has asked me to post this as her and her dp cant' agree on a name for their 2 week old baby boy.

Her dp is adamant that the baby be called -
Maximus Ronny Billy the Kid Powelly
or
Maximus Ronny Billy Bunny Powelly

My friend likes the name Max, and likes Ronny, is ok with Billy, but not Billy Bunny or Billy the Kid. Her dp has his heart set on it, he really really likes Billy the Kid, and Billy Bunny.

I said i'd ask the mumsnet jury - what combination works best / is least crazy?

Bunny's an old norfolk name?

But his son will not be growing up in eigthteenth century norfolk.

There's a heck of a lot more over-70s in the WI called Bunny, I'd wager.

SoupDragon · 11/04/2007 11:57

there's a Bunny on Antiques Roadshow but she's a woman.

Tinker · 11/04/2007 11:57

What about Maximum Ronny Billy Bunny Please Feel Free To Bully Me The Kid Powelly?

Alternatively, tell him to grow up.

SoupDragon · 11/04/2007 11:58

Oooh, Bully Billy Bunny Powelly. Has a certain ring to it.

SoupDragon · 11/04/2007 12:00

I was teased mercilessly at school and my name wasn't nearly as ridiculous as that, it simply rhymed.

nogoes · 11/04/2007 12:00

Tell him to call the baby Max and be done with it.

He sounds like an attention seeking 17 year old. I hope your friend is a little maturer.

pointydog · 11/04/2007 12:01

he'd get the piss ripped out of him and no mistake

I just read out the thread to her over the phone.

Having never seen mumsnet before, there was some whimpering.

She agrees (not about him being a tosser etc) but she's been really taken aback by how adamant he is and how much this seems to mean to him. She's going to stick to her guns (billy the kid style) and say a definite no to having bunny or the kid.

William Max Powelly

(known to his dad as Billy The Kid for three weeks till the novelty wears off and thereafter as William)

SweetyDarling · 11/04/2007 12:12

Dounds like he's smoking something he shouldn't!

SweetyDarling · 11/04/2007 12:12

Sounds!

Tinker · 11/04/2007 12:13

Mind you, we toyed with a name that included Jesse James in it Phew that we had a girl!

lionheart · 11/04/2007 12:13

It's the Easter bunny theme again, isn't it?

tigerschick · 11/04/2007 12:14

He must be made to see sense.
Are there any teenage boys you know that can tell him what a ribbing his poor ds would get?

lemonaid · 11/04/2007 12:14

This man needs help. And there is no way in the world that your friend should consider for one microsecond the possibility of backing down.

soph28 · 11/04/2007 12:15

That is the worst possible name I have ever heard.

Max- fine BUT NONE OF THE OTHERS.

Why don't they call him Billy Maximus Powelly (Still don't like it but then the DH could call him Billy the Kid as a nickname)

Ronny is awful

Any man with Bunny in his name would be absolutely mortified and a complete laughing stock.

Aloha · 11/04/2007 12:16

Is this for real? Poor baby. Doesn't the father want children or something? The middle names are cruel and silly.

ScummyMummy · 11/04/2007 12:17

How about Enochy?

Sorry, lame.

oldwomanwholivedinashoe · 11/04/2007 12:18

max is cute - but the rest is horrible - sorry!
I think im going to show this thread to my husband though (he thinks some of my suggestions are way out!!!)

Aloha · 11/04/2007 12:18

William Max or Max William. The rest is cruel and abusive! Bunny, my arse. She should tell him to fuck off, as Custy so succinctly put it.
