Please help save my sanity?!?!?!

I need to text or phone a friend of mine who lives in South California, on his mobile phone. Whats the problem i hear you ask??
Well, how the hell do i do it?? I can't work out what extra numbers i need to dial and am coming up against brick walls when searching on the net for the relevant code!!!!
Please...one of you fountains of knowledge must be able to help me...cos if not...i'll just have to drown my sorrows in a chilled bottle of Chablis and a huge bag of Maltesers?!?!?!

I think you should be dialing 001 followed by the code for South California (if his mobile is registered in South California that is) followed by the number but drop any zero at the beginning. If you dont know the code for SC then try calling the international operator. I dont know their number but 100 should be able to tell you or put you through.

Try dialing 001 or +1 followed by the mobile phone number but missing out the '0' at the start. HTH!

In case you haven't yet done it...the number will be something like 310.xxx.xxxx or 818.xxx.xxxx or 323.xxx.xxxx. You will need to dial 00-1-310-xxx-xxxx, or 00-1-818-xxx-xxxx, etc. 00 is what you dial to get out of england and 1 is the country code for the usa and 310 or 818 or 323 are some of the area codes for southern california and xxx-xxxx is the phone number.

Just a little note, people in the usa do not text much, so if your friend is not english he/she may not know how to read a text message and may not even be able to receive one.
