For whatever mad reason last night I decided to bleach my mid brown hair blonde, I now have about 2" of pale yellow hair followed by about 8" of ginger hair!! I also have big dark patches where the bleach missed. Do I have to go to a hairdressers and pay £60 to have it fixed or can I dye it again???

Oh god

I would go to a hairdressers, really

you may start losing patches otherwise and you will never get the colour to be even, now

I am sorry What possessed you?

It may not cost as much as £60, phone around a few places. But go somewhere where they know what they are doing, please!

First time i've used bleach, have been dying my hair for 10 years and have never had such a horrendous result before! Really really regret it now, my scalp is sore and my hair looks horrendous. Hope I don't have to have lots cut off, my hair is below my shoulders and a bit of a security blanket.

Does anyone know of any hairdressers that will be open tomorrow??

Been there, done that (way too many times ). GO TO A HAIRDRESSER ASAP!! Its the only way to get it right again. My worst mistakes have been ginger and a particularly attractive shade of khaki

Tomato ketchup, quickly rub it in - seriously it'll help.

Calebsmum, you could pick up darker shade temp dye, until you get appt

have a look at this

talcyegg · 08/04/2007 16:24

Was gonna dye mine bright red once, from brown.
Mixed the conditioner(instead of colour) with the bleach and applied.
Burnt scalp
Nice shade stripy ginger hair.
Then......duh...applied what i though was the conditioner

Looked like a blood bath

Can laugh about it now

I think vosene has something in it that strips colour

talcyegg · 09/04/2007 09:16

Calebsmum....

Hows the hair?

calebsmum · 10/04/2007 14:09

Well my options were either spend £55 at hairdressers with screaming toddler in tow, or nip to boots and get a semi-permanent hairdye and pray. I went for the cheap prayer option! Got a dark blonde botanics hairdye and thankfully my hair is now a (kind of) even copper blonde colour. I kinda like it, not sure what to do when it washes out though! Looks like i'll be dying my hair every few weeks for the next few years until this bodge job grows out.

Let this be a lesson to anyone thinking of bleaching brown hair!!

oh no!so is there a right and wrong way?or is it just a job for professionals?just incase i ever decide to go blond, which would never suit me but you never know!

southeastastra · 10/04/2007 14:25

the easiest way is probably to go for highlights even on just half a head to see if you like it first kittypants.

hope it sorts itself out calebsmum, it's too tricky to try at home though i used to do bits of mine. there are so many different volumes of peroxide it's hard to get right yourself!
