Every evening meal time, we have a little thing we do with the children (yes I got the idea from the Kardashians). It's called pit and peak. Once we're all seated and eating I ask everyone at the table "what's your pit and peak of the day?" So basically what's something that's been really brilliant in the day and what's something that's not. Since doing that I feel like I hear more than just "yeah it was good" or "lessons" when I ask how their day is. It always leads to some wonderful conversations and often life lessons. Yesterday's with my youngest (5) her peak was "I read four new red words on my own" (big step as she's had problems with her reading) and her pit was "my friend wasn't in school and I felt a bit lonely in class" she then proceeded to tell us that she went and talked to some other girls, which is actually a good thing for us because she's a very shy little girl and plays a lot on her own. So to hear her talking about talking to others is a big confidence boost. So please just try the "WHAT'S YOUR PIT AND PEAK OF THE DAY?" Whether it be at meal times, bath time, bed time etc. Even my 13 year old answers honestly 🙏🏻
