Tumble Dryer Question - extremely dull

my tumble dryer has stopped getting hot - still tumbles but there's little in the way of drying going on!

have done the obvious:

  • emptied water
  • cleaned fluff filter in door
  • cleaned big filter thing at the bottom
  • reached into hole where big filter thing goes and scraped out any fluff from that
  • kicked door shut
  • shouted at it

to no avail. it's just cold.

help me please!

From my limited knowledge, it sounds like the heating element is broken. You'll probably need a new one. If you can wait until next week, I know a good handyman guy in Islington who might be able to help you and is affordable.

Yup, same thing happened to us last week (during the first week of DS's potty training!) I too tried cleaning the whole darned thing before calling in the service man.

Sure enough it was the thermostat that needed replacing. Quick and easy, but cost €90 - probably about £60, inc labour.

bugger!

thanks for the replies, I had agreed to trade dryers with the lady that's moving in to my house so I guess I'll have to get the service man in

the same thing happened to mine and it was really easy to fix!
If there is a small red button at hte back push it in,if it clicks then the problem should be fixed as it was due to overheating.
A nice repairman told me this over the phone to save me the call out charge!!
