I've got my birthday coming up and the inlaws have kindly said they'll take the kids over night
I want to get all my pals together for a big night clubbing.
Trouble is haven't been out for so long need a wee suggestion or recommendation of whats on in or around Edinburgh.
Sort of looking for something house. I am not massively into dance but always think it makes for a good night out.
Thinking a friday/ sat night in april.
Anyone got any suggestions

Hey Babyramone,

What date is it?

There are loads of good nights on in Edinburgh in April:

Friday 6th
TokyoBlu @ Ego (really good house night - TokyoBlu are amazing DJs)
Trouble @
Cabaret Voltaire (Mixed House, 6 or 7 DJ's on. Great venue)

Saturday 7th
Sofistifunk @ City (Crap Venue! But more mainstream house. Kate Lawler DJing)
Parliament @ The Caves (Amazing Funky/Electro house and breaks, prog, in fab venue)

Friday 13th (spooky..!)
Nuklearpuppy @ Ego (Hard, dirty house and trance, very 'clubby' crowd)
Solescience @ Cabaret Voltaire (Funky, minimal Techno and disco house. Prog. Better crowd)

Saturday 14th
Stereotype @ The Liquid Room (Club, House, Dance.. Really good night)
Diskokitten @ Berlin (More commercial, but still House)
Afterdark @ Cabaret Voltaire (Electro, Dirty, Funky house, Funky Techno, a bit of Disco)

Saturday 21st
Musika @ The Liquid Room (Funky, Jackin, Electro House. Quite soulful)

There are other options, if you want something more mainstream try places like Stereo, Mood, Lava and Ignite.. But to be honest i'd steer clear of those places as its a really chavvy crowd.

OR there are loads of new(ish!) 3am bars that are better if you want something more 'chilled' that have goos DJ's on, like Baraka, Opal Lounge, Shanghai, Red, Pivo etc..

Hope this is helpful - let me know where you decide, I am DJing at a couple of the nights above (not allowed to say which as its 'self-promotion'!!)

Thanks Bassmama,
It'll prob br the weekend 13th-14th so like the look of possibly solescience or stereotype.
Also like look of Paliament.
I'm actually more in to indie with a bit of punk/new wave/metal thrown in but quite a few of my pals use to like house trance etc so trying to get something to suit us all. Do like bit of dancey stuff.
Def not in to chavvy nights (had recent night at Cavendish for pals 30th. God it was awful.)
Noticed on other thread(can't rem which) you play bass in a band. Good for you.
My DH has band, moderatly popular punk/ramones style 3 piece. Their not signed or anything. they basically do it for sheer enjoyment.
He tried to teach me bass but i was crap, nae sticking power.
Then I was supposed to go on and sing Sticking with you Velvet underground, but I crapped out (not enough chemical help)

Hello,

Glad I could be of help!

If you can convince your friends to go on your punky/indie vibe then try citrus club? Alweays good! 80's night on fridays! Great laugh and good crowd!

I'd definitely recommend stereotype as my choice for that weekend (as ill be there!)

Whatever you choose to do, I hope you have a great night. Glad I could help.
