Any ideas on how to get tomato soup stains out of a light pink cotton top and light beige trousers? They've been blasted with "Shout", then washed at 50 degrees in a biological washing powder, but with no luck. Any suggestions?

Whenever I find a stain after something has been washed I immediately wash it again (don't let it dry or this doesn't work) with fairy washing up liquid rubbed into the offending mark and after it's wash it's as good as new.

This works with all baby food/ketchup/gravy so I'm sure will work with tomato soup. Fingers crossed.

Tried both of your suggestions, ladies, and am afraid to say that the stains are still there! Both things have now been washed, soaked in Stain Devil 6, rubbed with washing up liquid and washed again! Does anyone know if I can use diluted bleach? Or will this take the colour out and leave me with white blotches? (I'm being thick, I know, but I only use bleach on whites if I have to!) TIA

Don't use ordinary bleach, unless you want your pink to be spotted with white blotches!

Try a colour safe bleach such as Ace.

I have used diluted bleach on coloured stuff, a blue t-shirt IIRC, and it come out ok. I'd wash it quickly afterwards though.

TBH I didn't suggest it before as I didn't want to be responsible for possible white blotches! It should be okay if you wash it straight away and dilute quite alot.

Did the clothes dry after the very first wash? If they did I expect that why my fairy liquid tip didn't work. I haven't a clue why it works only on never dried stains though.

Good luck.

Long shot but i swear by napisan... removes almost everything but can make dye run! i put a generous amount in the sink with a couple of kettles of hot water! again works best before the stain has been washed in.
