grrr want to have a rant about dh. I have been unwell, have horrible virus and feel crap basically. I went to bed early yesterday and the lounge was like a bombsite. I assumed he would tidy it up as I always do before bed, but no it is exactly the same as how I left it. No its not! ITS WORSE. There are crisp packets ON THE FLOOR, beer cans about 3 mugs (? why cant he just use the same one?) Last nights plates from tea, toys and crayons evrywhere, its just a mess. Downstairs in the kitchen everything has been left everywhere, drying still in rack, knives on worktops etc and I am just fed up of doing it. Why wont he just do a 10 minute tidying job before bed. It takes twice as long in the morning when the children are up! grrrrrrrrrrr

and last week I bought a laundry basket and his dirty washing is still being dumped all over the place!

Told you it was pathetic, just wanted to get it off my chest

I would join you in a rant about DH's fio but if I start I fear I might make the MN site crash.

Needless to say but things are bad in this house.

Fio2 · 13/07/2004 10:34

Sadly too many friends and family know my nickname on here and I'm not really comfortable with putting it all on here incase they see it.

Fio, may I marry U & pack our DH's off together 2 live in blissful squalor?

Let me guess, his mum always picks up after him (instantaneously?) when he's at home?

Fio2 · 13/07/2004 14:12

zebra i love love to marry you I think our dh's would get along famously! I reckon it would be more fun for us we let them have custordy of the kids and we saw them maybe every other weekend ?

His mum just used to chuck stuff in the bin if he left it lying about. I think i will have to start doing it. i still havent tidied up what he left this morning as I have to take dd to nursery, then ds wanted to make some cakes. I might be cruel and leave it til he comes so he knows what a mess he left it in. Its just the washing on the floor and everywhere else that bugs me the most because if i dont wash it and it needed washing he starts moaning! Then if I was it and it didnt need washing he moans aswell Then he is the first person to comment about how messy the house is grrrrrrrrrrrr

Emma i am sorry you are feeling so down sweetie ((()))

Bah! to DH, he knows that you cannot bear the squalor and will tidy it up, he has weighed that up against the ferocity of your reprimand and has decided he would rather risk an ear bashing than do it himself.
You need to a) be fiercer or b) resist cleaning up until he gets botulism from his own mess.

Fio2 · 13/07/2004 14:33

mmm he would never clean it though! I am not exactly the cleanest and tidiest person either! _ far from it.

he used to clean. It just seems to be MY job now

Fio2, hope you feel better soon. What a useless piece of work!
EmmaTMG, really sorry to hear you're down. Nickname change time perhaps? Hugs. Dd is still using that spout you so kindly sent, if somewhat mangled...

handlemecarefully · 14/07/2004 01:34

Fio2,

I think possibly you should kill him. Seems fair.

Pixiepod · 14/07/2004 02:05

Could you tell him in black and white exactly what you want him to clean/tidy/sort out so there's absolutely no excuse if he doesn't? I know you shouldn't have to, but esp. whilst you are feeling under the weather, it doesn't matter how it gets done as long as it gets done IFSWIM.
